LEWISTON, Idaho The MSU-Northern Lights have had a rough couple of games but are looking to rebound tonight against Montana Tech.
The Lights are finishing up playing three games during the past five days. After falling to Rocky Mountain at home on Thursday night, Northern took the long road trip to Lewiston, Idaho, this past Saturday night.
The Lights lost to league-leading Lewis-Clark State, 84-69.
Northern head coach Tim Walker said they cannot make any excuses. Even though they had a long road trip and might have thought they were tired, they still needed to come out and play hard.
Now the Lights need to just focus on tonight and playing a good tough Montana Tech team, Walker said.
Against L-C, Walker said, they played well and hung in the game. Walker said they got back into the game in the second half, but the Warriors are a good team and held on for the win.
L-C is bigger than the Lights and shot the ball well both inside and outside.
"They are always a tough match-up," Walker said, "but I feel we played well and we played hard."
Tonight, the Lights play in their only home televised game of the year. Northern will take on the Orediggers of Montana Tech.
On Jan. 22 the two teams met in Butte, with the Lights picking up an 82-75 win over the Orediggers.
Tech has changed things up since the last time the two teams met and, Walker said, they need to ready. The Orediggers are also coming off a big win over Westminster. Their confidence is up and they are playing well.
"We're going to have our work cut out," Walker said.
The Lights will need to play good defense and take care of the ball and not let Tech dictate the tempo. Walker said if they can get the speed of the game up they should do okay.
