DONALD ROY SMITH: Obituary

Donald Roy Smith, 61, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000 at his Havre home of a heart attack.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at The Salvation Army Chapel, 605 Second St., with Lt. William Ware officiating. The remains will be taken to Cottage Grove, Ore. with Smith's children.

Smith was born March 27, 1938 in Sentinel, Okla. to Edgar and Thelma (O'Neal) Smith Jr. He graduated from high school in Sentinel.

Smith was in the Army Reserve in the 1950s and '60s. In 1958 he married Lavonnia Adams in California. They later divorced.

Smith traveled around the Northwest as a laborer. He arrived in Havre in 1980. He worked at the old Kmart on the east end of Havre and at various other labor jobs.

Smith enjoyed listening to country music, watching sports and helping people.

Smith was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Thelma Branham of Antioch, Calif., daughter Bonnie A. Martin and son Donald Smith Jr., both of Cottage Grove, Ore., sister Joan Payne, Antioch, Calif., and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Havre Salvation Army Chapel.
