Pass or Fail -- Central A testing begins tommorow

With the Central A divisional tournament underway on Thursday, the individual and team rankings will be put to the test.

Havre's Ricky Brown leads the Central A in scoring, averaging 17.8 points per game.

Brown, a senior, boasts tournament experience and has proven himself throughout the season to be a scoring threat.

His is also No. 1 in 3-point field goals made, averaging 2.94 per game.

Brown scored a season-high 29 points against CMR on Jan. 13.

Nate Baltrusch, a senior for Havre, is No. 1 in the assist category, averaging 5.4 per game.

Baltrusch is also a scoring threat, matching a season-high 18 points three different times this season.

Landen Grant, a 6-foot-3 senior, is fifth in the league in rebounding, averaging 8.2 per game.

Grant can also notch double figures for Havre and is strong presence on the floor.

Jesse Suek and Scott Rice have stepped up both offensively and defensively for Havre and their play will be key this weekend.

Havre's bench has done nothing short of improve game upon game. Ryan Fink, Cliff Cooper, Chris Young, and Danny Wirtzberger have proven they can come off the bench and spark the game with strong play for the Ponies.

But at divisional, anything can happen.

Lewistown's Newell Roche is second in the league in scoring, averaging 16.7 points per game. Roche is third in free throw percentage, averaging 72.7 percent. He averages one 3-pointer per game and shoots 32.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Tyler Thomas and Richard Griffin are also scoring threats for Dillon. Griffin boasts the best field goal percentage in the league at 56.2 percent. With that, he averages 13.3 points per game.

Thomas can shoot the 3-pointer, averaging 2.78 per game, and is second in the league. He has the second-best 3-point percentage at 40.7.

The big guys inside, with Havre's Grant, include McIntyre of Butte Central, Herbst of Belgrade and Griffin of Dillon.

Dillon's Thomas and Lewistown's Roche could possibly be the strongest all-around players in the Central A. Both can score, assist, steal the ball, and rebound at top-notch levels.

Griffin and Shane Sutherland of Dillon are Nos. 1 and 2 in the steals category, averaging 2.7 and 2.4 steals per game, respectively.

Team-wise, Dillon scores the most points offensively at 69.2. Havre is third, averaging 60.2 points.

Butte Central is toughest defensively, holding its opponents to 52.3 points per game. Belgrade is also tough in this area, averaging 52.3 points per game, also.

Havre is fourth at 58.9.

Browning leads the league in team rebounding, averaging 35.9 boards per game. Daniel Edmo leads the Indians with 7.7 boards per game.

Havre is eighth at 28.3, led by Grant.

Dillon leads the league in team assists, averaging 16.4 per game. The Beavers' Thomas is second in the league with 3.1 per game.

Havre is ranked fourth at 13.4 per game, with Baltrusch ranked No. 1.

The Beavers shoot 46.9 percent from the field, average 6.5 3-pointers per game, and shoot almost 70 percent from the free throw line to lead the league.

Belgrade is the best from the 3-point line, averaging 39.8 percent.
