The MSU-Northern Skylights are home this weekend to take on the Carroll College Saints. The Skylights downed Carroll in the first go around on Jan. 26, 72-65.
Northern was down by seven points at the half in the first game, but they were led by Anna Fabatz in the second to pick up the win. That was the last game Fabatz played before injuring her knee, but she might be back on Saturday night, said Skylights head coach Ray Peters.
"Anna practiced today (Thursday), but we'll have to see when Saturday rolls around," Peters said.
Carroll comes in with a very talented squad. Erica Gilliland is a great post player who is leading the conference in rebounding. The Saints also have a pure shooter in Courtnee Dees and a well-rounded player in Mary Earley.
"They've got one of the best starting five in the conference," Peters said.
It will be a battle as the Saints are fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive, while Northern is still fighting for the No. 2 spot in the conference.
"It is a huge game and you'll see both teams play well," Peters said.
Peters said they are going to be facing a team that has their back against the wall.
"It will be a real dog fight," Peters said.
The Saints also have a very talented freshman in Chester graduate Carlye Van Dyke, who can come off the bench and score for Carroll.
As far as the season overall, Peters said, to this point he is very pleased and very proud of his team.
"They've done awesome to this point," Peters said.
Tip-off for the Skylights is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. against the Saints.
