The Great Northern Fair tradition of letting the community choose the next fair theme has been continued with the announcement that the Great Northern Fair Theme 2000 Contest has begun.
Last year's winner, Zach J. Kamla, a fifth-grade student at St. Jude School, won with the theme "It's so divine the Great Northern Fair of '99."
The winner of the contest will receive two general admission tickets to all night shows, including musical entertainment, rodeos and the Jaycee's demolition derby. He or she also will receive two all-day carnival passes good for rides along the midway.
A committee of the Great Northern Fair Board will review all entries received prior to the March 17 deadline. The committee will then select two or three of the best to bring before the entire board for a vote during the Tuesday, March 21, Fair Board Meeting. The winner will be announced at that time.
People interested in contributing a suggested theme should mail their entries to The Great Northern Fair, 1676 Highway 2 W., Havre, MT 59501.
