THREE BUTTES William C. "Bill" Brown, 66 years, died at his home near Three Buttes south of Fort Belknap Agency on Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000 of cancer.
WakeRosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the Red Whip Center at Ft. Belknap. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at the Red Whip Center with burial in the Bill Brown Family Cemetery at Three Buttes.
Brown was born April 25, 1933 to James and Ella (Perry) Brown at Three Buttes. He was raised and educated at Three Buttes. At 15 he started working for the Miller Brothers Ranch, where he worked for 15 years. He trailed cows and did ruff string riding. He worked for Brian Stevens at Dodson for a number of years.
Brown served in the Marines during the Korean War. He worked at a number of ranches in Montana and Wyoming. He also drove trucks for a while.
Brown married Eleanor Brockie on July 3, 1975. He worked as a ditch rider for the BIA and BLM. He was the stock inspector for the Fort Belknap Tribes for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Wade Brown; sisters, Lillian Cantrell, Mary, Rosie, Helen and Edna; brothers, Bobby, Jimmy, Leslie, Walter and Perry.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor of Three Buttes; daughters, Sharon Brown of Cut Bank, Barbara Brown of Michigan, Ella Brown of Three Buttes; sons, Warren Brown, Doug Brown and Jeffrey Brown all of Three Buttes; brothers, Joe Brown and Jack Brown of Harlem.
Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
