Havre City Council Monday discussed a memo sent by the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce to remind the council to prepare for the Adopt Havre Program.
The Adopt Havre program is an attempt to get the city cleaned up after winter by getting different clubs and organizations as well as local neighborhoods to pitch in for a city-wide cleanup. The city provides dumpsters to help in the effort.
The cleanup will take place April 15 from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
"Havre is a beautiful place to live and do business, but it is ready for a sprucing up after a long dirty winter," Mayor Phyllis Leonard said.
The council also approved several motions and resolutions Monday night including:
Resolution 3304 for the abandonment of a portion of Main Street, 19th Avenue and alleys in Block 4 and 5. The motion was approved and it was moved from a resolution of intent to a resolution of abandonment. These are portions of the street that are no longer in use;
Resolution 3305 was approved. This is a loan of $24,600 with an interest rate of 4.25 percent per annum on the unpaid balance of the principal until paid, from the Division of Aeronautics, Montana Department of Transportation. This is for improvements to the city-county airport. The city and county are required to match 10 percent of the funds at a cost of $30,000 apiece and the FFA will pay the rest of the $600,000 for the project. The money is for runway light for the airport.
The following committee appointments were approved for 2000:
