The Board of Regents of Higher Education will hold their March meeting in Havre on Thursday and Friday.
Items of local interest include the mission statement of Montana State University-Northern and program review of the Montana State University System at the meeting of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee Thursday morning; staffing items to be discussed in the full board meeting Thursday afternoon; and discussion of Montana University System (MUS) with different gubernatorial candidates throughout the meeting.
The executive session of the board begins at 8 a.m. Thursday in the Crowley Conference Room of the Student Union Building (SUB). This is followed by a work session of the full board, after completion of the executive session.
At 10 a.m. there will be a discussion of MUS issues with gubernatorial candidates Mike Cooney and Joe Mazurek.
At 11 a.m. there will be concurrent committee meetings, with the Academic and Student Affairs Committee meeting in the SUB Ballroom and the Administrative/Budget Committee meeting in Donaldson Commons.
The full board will convene in the SUB Ballroom from 1:15 to 3:30 p.m., following lunch. The regents meet with faculty representatives in the ballroom afterwards.
At 8:30 a.m. Friday morning the board reconvenes in the SUB ballroom with an open forum for public input on MUS issues. Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Dick Crofts report will be presented afterwards.
A continuation of the board's work session begins at 11 a.m., with a discussion of MUS issues with Gubernatorial Candidate Mark O'Keefe.
The board reconvenes in the SUB Ballroom at 1 p.m. after lunch, with a discussion of MUS issues with Gubernatorial Candidate Judy Martz.
The board adjourns at 2 p.m. Friday.
