The Class A was due, and do it they did.
Class A defeated Class C 15-8, 15-10, 12-15, 15-9 and Class B 15-5, 15-3, 6-15, 15-2 en route to the title at the A-B-C All-Star volleyball tournament held at MSU-Northern on Saturday.
Erin Patera and Tiffany Shrauger of the runner-up Havre Blue Ponies were on the team. The tournament featured the top senior volleyball players from throughout Montana.
Patera, co-captain of the squad, was named MVP of the tournament. She led the Class A with 13 kills against the Class C opponent.
Versus Class B, Patera led the team with six ace serves and six digs.
Shrauger tallied six digs against Class C.
Jamie Slagel of Lewistown led the Class A with 45 assists against Class C and 34 against Class B.
Patera, Slagel, and Kelsey Bierman of Hardin combined for 18 of the team's 38 digs against the Class B.
Bierman led the team with seven digs against Class C.
Janalee Stokken of Lewistown, Kitty Earley of Billings Central, and Joanna Wolcott of Libby combined for nine of the team's 14 blocks against Class B.
Brook Hovland of Bigfork had four aces against Class C.
Bill Huebsch, head coach of the Blue Ponies was an assistant coach with Jackie Fuller of Whitefish. Laura Sundheim of Hardin was the head coach.
Katie Hoffman of Chinook was featured on the Class B team, who defeated Class C 15-9, 10-15, 15-13, 15-7 in the opening match of the day.
Hoffman had three digs and four kills in the match. She also had four kills against Class A.
Hoffman combined with Tali Alves of Cascade and Ashley Richins of Choteau for six of the team's eight aces against Class C.
Class B, who has won the tournament during the last two seasons, was coached by Laurie Kelly of Roundup and Thresa Adams of Whitehall.
Chester's Megan Mattson played for Class C. Versus Class B, Mattson led the team with 11 assists.
Mattson had 14 assists against Class A.
Class C was coached by Monica Switzer from Richey and Bob McLean from Twin Bridges.
Emily Forsman of Dutton led the Class C with six kills against Class B.
Slagel of Class A was awarded best setter and Meghan Zenker of Class C Twin Bridges was awarded the defensive specialist award for her work in the back row.
