Buy a raffle ticket and help provide shelter for an abused woman and help the Havre Parks and Recreation department purchase equipment for a local park.
The Havre Soroptimists will conduct a drawing for a cedar chest June 4 to raise money for local charities. There are still plenty of tickets for the event. The cedar chest was purchased at a local business and the Soroptimists have donated items to fill it with.
The chest will be on display at Hair Company in the Atrium Mall through April 14. On April 15, the tickets for the raffle will be on sell at Albertsons from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. After Albertsons, the chest will be displayed at a variety of retailer outlets throughout the Havre area.
"The community has been very extremely helpful with all of our fund-raisers and everything we get stays in our community," said Fern Lohse, cedar chest raffle coordinator.
Lohse said the Soroptimists are grateful to the people of the community and to the businesses that are providing the space to display the cedar chest and sell tickets. The businesses have always been very supportive of all Soroptimists fund-raisers, she said.
The funds money by the raffle helps to provide funds for the following things:
Handicap showers at Camp Kiwanis for the Montana MDA camp.
Donations to the Parks and Recreation department for playground equipment at Pepin Park.
HRDC domestic violence abuse shelter.
Donations to the Havre Fire Department EMT for a full-body advance life support pediatric manikin with simulator.
