There will be books and ice cream for sale in the Vande Bogart Library foyer at Montana State University-Northern Wednesday.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. books and ice cream sundaes will be sold as a fundraiser to purchase more books for the university library.
"We just put the money back into a book fund to buy more," said Val Hickman, archives and acquisitions supervisor for the library.
The book sale will consist of copies that have been withdrawn from the library circulation, duplicate copies and donations that have not been added to the library's circulation.
Paperbacks will be sold for 50 cents, hardbacks for $1, with other prices for special offerings such as encyclopedias. Records will also be sold at $1 each.
Hickman said there will be more than 1,000 books for sale at the event.
"There will be anything from fiction to nursing to history; some science, education, reference, business books," she said. "There's a lot of Chilton automotive manuals."
The ice cream social will consist of sundaes costing $1, with 25 cents for each additional topping. About 200 sundaes will be ready for the event. There will be chocolate, butterscotch, and strawberry sundaes, with chopped nuts available.
"(Shoppers) can sit and enjoy a sundae out here, or take it with them," said Carol Jestrab, circulation, government document and serials supervisor at the library.
Members of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program will man the event. They will be selling the books and to serve and sell the sundaes. Hickman said the RSVPs have donated their time to work the sale in past years as well.
