CHESTER Mary M. "Babe" Evans, 85, Chester, died Thursday, April 20, 2000 at a Chester nursing home of natural causes.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at Liberty County Nursing Home in Chester with the Rev. Nolan Spenst officiating.
A private graveside memorial service will be held at the family plot in Culbertson at a date to be decided by the family.
Evans was born Sept. 20, 1914 in Sheridan County to Esther G. and Winfield Scott Evans.
Evans enjoyed helping in the kitchen, embroidery, playing cards and bingo, church services and singing hymns, listening to music and looking at photographs.
Evans made her home in Culbertson for many years. When her parents passed away, she made her home with her sister and brother-in-law, Maude and Lloyd Bakke, in Gildford and then in Rudyard. She moved into a nursing home in Chester when they died in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Winfield and John; sisters, Viola, Mabel, Maude and Jane; several nieces and nephews.
Survivors include numerous great-nieces and nephews, her friend Millie Pester of Rudyard, and her many friends in Liberty County.
Arrangements are being handled by Rockman Funeral Chapel of Chester.
