The Havre Day Activity Center (HDAC) is holding a public open house for its new assisted living complex at 304 Seventh St. Thursday, May 25, from 3 to 7 p.m.
The complex, built to house 10 people with developmental disabilities, is a step between a group home and independent living, said Gary Nimmick, executive director of HDAC. He said it will help downsize the existing group homes.
Nimmick said they have had lots of people asking about the new facility, and decided to hold the open house to give people the opportunity to see it and ask questions before it is filled up with residents. He said this will allow people to find out what it is all about.
He said they hope to begin moving residents in during June, and fill it up by the end of June or the beginning of July. He said most will be current residents of HDAC group homes now.
Nimmick said he and the HDAC board of directors have been discussing opening a facility like this for several years.
