The Lights are shining bright with their newest addition to the MSU-Northern wrestling team.
Head Coach David Ray announced the signing of Columbia Falls High School's Caleb Schaeffer.
Schaeffer, a 133-pound wrestler, was a three-time state finalist, two-time state champion, and four-time state placer, accumulating 137 wins, with 97 of those coming by pin, and only 18 losses.
"Schaeffer is one of the most talented wrestlers I was able to pick up in this recruiting class," Ray said.
Schaeffer is the younger brother of Northern assistant coach Jessie Schaeffer. Jessie was a two-time All-American for the Lights in the 1999 and 2000 season to help lead the Lights to two National titles in those years.
"Having another set of brothers in the room will just raise the intensity of the wrestlers around them, and I think Jessie has a lot to offer as a coach and a brother to Caleb," Ray said.
Schaeffer also has a 4.0 GPA, and could become MSU-Northern's first four-time academic All-American.
"I have no doubt that he will become a four-time wrestling All-American, and if his hard work in the room carries over to the classroom, he should have no problem becoming our first four-time Academic All-American," Ray said.
Schaeffer is the son of Rick and Vickie Schaeffer.
