Havre West paving planned for June 26

By Tim Leeds

Pavement should be hitting U.S. Highway 2 west of Havre in a couple of weeks, said Gary Berg, field project manager for the Montana Department of Transportation in Havre.

Berg said the sidewalks and curbs should be finished this week, and A-1 Paving of Kalispell should be able to start laying pavement by June 26.

Berg said the paving should take a couple of weeks to complete. He said the project should be finished sometime in August, with streetlights and the stoplight at the Holiday Village Shopping Center installed by then.

The $5.7 million Havre West project began last summer. The project will widen and improve the highway from the U.S. Highway 87 junction to the base of the hill by Fleet Wholesale. Efforts are being made to control erosion with reinforcements on the highway, and gutters and sidewalks are being installed.
