The Havre Comets were in doubleheader action Saturday afternoon when they took on the Vauxhall Spurs at Legion Field.

In game one, the Spurs went out to an early 2-0 lead, when, in the top of the second inning, Walmpugh and Kapesos came around to score for Vauxhall.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Comets cut the Spurs' lead in half when J.R. Morse singled in Doug Ireland to trail the Spurs, 2-1.

In the top of the third, the Spurs scored early and often. When the inning finally ended, the Comets had given up 17 runs on 13 hits and had committed three errors.

The Comets added one more run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Mike Mereness scored on a Mike Kellam RBI. After five innings, the Comets were 10-runned, 17-2.

In game two, the Spurs wasted no time picking up where they left off, scoring three times in the first three innings.

The Comets responded in the bottom of the third inning. Mereness singled in Tyler VanderMars, then Kellam knocked in Mereness to cut into the Spurs lead, 3-2.

The Spurs then responded by bombarding the Comets in the fourth and fifth innings, scoring 12 runs on five hits and the Comets committed six errors.
