The Great Northern Stampede Saturday and Sunday attracted some of the best rodeo talent from around the state and region. Leading the way were such luminaries as Rachel Myllymaki-Sproul from Arlee who won her specialty, barrel racing and Rob Kountz of Bozeman who won the all-around.
Payouts for the 2-day affair totaled $20,047.20 in the eight categories of the Pro Rodeo Cowboy Association sanctioned event.
Sankey Rodeo Company provided the stock, while judges Wade Berry and Jim Croft and timers Jayme Chatelain and Dee Dee Dickinson-McKee provided professional results.
Will Rasmussen was announcer and specialty acts were Tommy Lucia and Bert Davis. Davis was clown, as well as barrelman, and the bullfighters were Don Freouf and Seth Gorham, with Ike Sankey served as flankman. Pickup men were Kenny Carpenter and Don Freouf.
Kountz also was top money winner at the Stampede, taking in $1,027.23 for his efforts in team roping and calf roping.
