DODSON Derek R. Johnson, 28, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at a Billings hospital from injuries received when the

Wake services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Red Whip Center in Fort Belknap. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dodson High School Gymnasium in Dodson. Cremation will follow at the Hi-Line Crematory in Malta.

Johnson was born Sept. 23, 1971 in Havre. He attended schools in Billings and Phoenix, Ariz. and graduated from high school in Arizona.

He attended MSU Bozeman, graduating with a degree in engineering. He did his apprenticeship with Kewitt Construction, during his senior year, in the Anchorage, Alaska area. Following graduation, he worked for EBY Construction Co. in Phoenix. Johnson was currently working for the BIA Roads at Fort Belknap for the summer.

He was team roping this summer with his partner and good friend Shana Bishop. Johnson loved all animals, most especially his roping horse, Gus.

Survivors include his mother, Danis Kimball of Dodson, father William Johnson of Phoenix; maternal grandmother, Marie Kimball of Glenrock, Wyo., paternal grandmother Josephine Johnson of Fort Belknap; aunts, Retha Moffit of Glenrock, Wyo., Franki Johnson of Fort Belknap, Jackie Johnson of Nespelem, Wash.; uncles, Steve Kimball of Glenrock, David Kimball of Evanston, Wash., Kenny Johnson of Tacoma, Wash.; and numerous cousins.
