Gail Searl of Havre will be holding a book signing at the Hi-Line Quilt Guild Festival of Quilts Show during the Havre Festival Days celebration.
Searl's book, entitled "Sew Many Stars," is an instructional quiltmaking book complete with pictures of quilts designed by Gail, and stitched by several Hi-Line quilters. Searl has been featured on television shows on TBS and HGTV. She has also received recognition in several quilting magazines. Her book received a five star review by the Amazon.com website.
In 1982 Searl became the only Nationally certified quilting instructor west of the Mississippi. She is certified by the Embroiders Guild of America. Searl's book hit the market in March, after the American Quilting Society showed an interest in publishing the instructional sketches and outline she had sent in.
Upon hearing this, Searl set to work gathering quilters from local guilds, asking if they'd be interested in making her sketches a reality. When all the quilts were completed and photos were taken, Searl's book was published, it featured photos of all the quilts that had been made. "Sew Many Stars" is the largest project book the Society has ever published, and includes over 750 computer illustrations. Searl is excited to see the interest in her book increase. "I've been watching the sales on Amazon.com" she said.
Searl's book is also available through Barnes and Noble Booksellers. She is looking forward to the local signing, she said, having already done several signings throughout the state. All profits made at Havre's Quilt Festival book signing will go to the Natalie Patrick Memorial Fund.
