Ryan Taylor to perform at ag banquet

By Tim Leeds

Ryan Taylor will be the featured speaker and entertainer at this year's Ag Appreciation Banquet at the Ice Dome Saturday, Oct. 7.

Taylor, a fourth generation cattle rancher from from south of Towner, N.D., is a widely published columnist and is known as "the voice of cowboy logic." His "Cowboy Logic" column is published regularly in AG Week, and he recently published a collection of his writing in "A Collection of Cowboy Logic."

His column has been described as bringing "farmers, ranchers, ag lenders, small town business owners and anyone else with and affection for the rural lifestyle , true stories that warm the heart and make you say, Yup, that's right. I've been there myself.'"

The Havre Area Chamber of Commerce will present two awards at the banquet, the "Outstanding Agricultural Leader Award" to a person actively involved in agriculture who has a demonstrated record of leadership for Montana's agriculture industry in north central Montana, and the "Outstanding Agricultural Advocate Award" to a person involved in business, education, government or retired from agriculture who has a demonstrated record of advocacy for the industry in north central Montana.

Chamber staff said that the banquet is being held in the Ice Dome to accommodate "overwhelming support and participation for this community event." Close to 500 goals attended last year's banquet, and the staff said they are trying to meet or beat that this year. They said the committee recognizes that "we are all dependent on one another, and it's important to keep that basic philosophy in sight."

The banquet begins at 6 p.m. with a no-host social hour, followed by a baron of beef dinner at 7 p.m.

The banquet is hosted by the Agribusiness Committee and sponsored by local businesses through the purchase of banquet tickets.
