The City of Havre Fire and Ambulance Department will be hosting an open house Monday, Oct. 9 through Friday, Oct. 13 , from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fire Department in honor of National Fire Prevention Week.
All area residents are invited to get involved in learning about the importance of fire prevention by participating in the open house.
The theme this year is "Fire Drills The Great Escape." It will emphasize the importance of having and practicing a personal emergency evacuation plan for all homes.
Demonstrations of Fire Department equipment, tours through the department, drawings for prizes such as gift certificates and smoke detectors, grab-bag giveaways, and presentations of fire safety videos will be among the activities offered to the public.
Special demonstrations will include:
Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1-4 p.m., "Blood Pressure and Glucose Monitoring and use of the Pulse Oximeter,"
Wednesday, Oct. 11, 1-4 p.m., "IV and Intubation Techniques,"
Thursday, Oct. 12, 1-4 p.m., Use of the Spinal Backboard and the Cold Weather Rescue Suit,"
Friday, Oct. 13, 1-4 p.m., "Rope Rescue Demonstration,"
Saturday, Oct. 14, 1 p.m., "Jaws of Life Vehicle Extrications."
The public is invited to attend any or all of the demonstrations at the Havre Fire Department.
