GILDFORD Ruth E. Hanson, 84, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000 at a retirement community in Shoreline, Wash. of natural causes.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Gildford Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Fallo officiating. Burial to follow at the Gildford Cemetery.
Hanson was born July 22, 1916 in Tacoma, Wash. to Horace H. and Maud O. (Bittleston) Bailey. She attended school in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and graduated high school there in 1934.
On July 12, 1936, she married Orville C. Hanson at her mother's home in Coeur d'Alene. The couple moved to Gildford and remained there until his retirement from the Post Office in 1969.
Hanson was a Hi-Line Lady Innkeeper for the Gildford Hotel from 1949 to 1969, a postal clerk in the 1950s, and a homemaker. The couple were snowbirds to Arizona until about 1989. They moved to Lynnwood, Wash. in 1989-90 and remained there.
Hanson's hobbies included sending cards for people's special occasions and needs, singing, playing piano and organ for many years in the Gildford Baptist Church and for weddings and funerals, walking, and foot reflexology. She was an active member of the Gildford Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dwight Orville Hanson; brothers, Cy Bailey, Elbert Bailey and Marshall Bailey; sister, Nadine Lawson.
Survivors include her husband, Orville C. Hanson of Lynnwood, Wash.; daughters, Shane Arlene Jacobs and Bonnie R. Hanson, both of Lynnwood; sisters, Margaret Weese of Coeur d'Alene and Rachel Hanson of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, David Bailey of Santa Ana, Calif.; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Gildford Baptist Church.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home of Havre.
