Nearly 50 people attended the 2000 Red Ribbon Run on Sunday, October 22 at Deaconess Park in Havre, sponsored by the HELP Committee and the Havre Optimist Club.
The race began at 1:30, with two options available, "The Not-So-Ruff McGruff Mile," in which running, walking and even crawling were allowed, and the 5K, which was for the more competitive runners.
McGruff the crime dog was the guest of honor at the race, where competitors young and old participated. All participants received a T-shirt bearing this year's red ribbon slogan, "Survivors don't use drugs".
The top two male and female finishers of each race were awarded chamber gift certificates, and youth participants were entered into a drawing for free movie passes to Havre Cinemas.
Placing first in the 1 mile event were Frank Lippy and Keyla Wendland, second place prizes were awarded to Ethan Flathers and Carly Chenoweth.
In the 5K run, Justus Wendland took first for the men, while Trina Betts took home the first place prize for the women.
Second place for the men was a tie between Tim Solomon and Byron Ophus.
