The County Museum Board has decided to expand and is now seeking two persons to fill new vacancies.
One term runs from November 30, 2000 to June 30, 2002 and another runs from November 30, 2000 to June 30, 2003. The Hill County Commission will accept suggestions for Board membership until December 30, 2000. The appointments to the Museum Board will be made after that date. Pursuant to Section 7-1-201(5), MCA, the County Commission is required to "post prospective membership vacancies at least one month prior to filling the vacancy."
The Museum Board overlooks the budget and activities of the museum and the curator. Among other things, the board may procure grants and arrange special events and promotions for the museum. The board basically oversees the actual operation of the museum itself, according to Doug Kaercher, Hill County Commissioner. Kaercher said that the board's decision to expand came from the need for more ideas and help with museum activities.
