Springer lifts HHS grapplers to victoryv

The Havre Blue Ponies had to throw their weight around to win the bout at Lewistown.

Heavyweight Cliff Springer did just that.

Springer pinned Nick Woods of Lewistown in :10 as the Blue Ponies defeated the Golden Eagles 47-42 in Central A wrestling action at Lewistown Tuesday.

Nick Newell (112) won a 17-2 decision over David Burrick for the individual title.

Adam Jensen (130) of Havre pinned Shaun Ruckman in 2:31.

K.P. Fisher, a top-ranked wrestler in Montana at 152 pounds, moved up a weight class and pinned Chad Scheffeimear in 1:56 at 160 pounds.

Willie Hulett, who recently recovered from a shoulder injury, won by forfeit at 171 pounds.
