MATHILDA G. EVANS

Mathilda G. (Tillie) Evans, 87, died on Jan. 8, 2000 at a Havre retirement home.

Vigil will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Holland & Bonine Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Hingham. Burial will follow at the Rudyard Cemetery.

Evans was born Aug. 3, 1912 in Wanda, N.D. to Mathias M. and Anna Turbes Jenniges. She attended school in Wanda. In 1933 she married Clinton N. Evans in Wanda.

They started their family and moved to Montana in 1937. They lived in Rudyard for 61 years.

Evans worked at K Lanes for 16 years, then opened the Snack Shack with her daughter Gloria. She loved baking, especially great pies. She was a seamstress, and took in mending, washing and ironing.

She liked reading, putting puzzles together, sewing and making quilts. She liked going on trips and spending time with her family.

In November 1998, Evans moved to Havre where she lived with her daughter, Julie Holt. In June 1999, she moved into Eagles Manor.

Evans was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clint, sister, Marcella, and brothers: Gilbert, Beak, Lux, and Tux, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by her sons: Mathias (Tiger) and William Evans, both of Havre, Clint of Auburn, Wash., and Eugene of Shelby; daughters: Mary Ann Riley of Salem, Ore., Glorianne Mangold of Great Falls, Cyrilla Burrows of Chester, Valorie Peterson of East Lansing, Mich., Teresa Bartholomew of Billings, Anita (Nicky) of Dubuque, Iowa, Arliss Keller of Billings, and Julie Holt of Havre. She also is survived by sisters Anna Evans of Redwood Falls, Minn., Trudy Struckman of St. Paul, Minn., and brothers Cyril Jenniges of Wanda, Minn., and Roman Jenniges of Redwood Falls, Minn., 42 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Evans' honor may be made to the Liberty County Nursing Home or a donor's choice.
