The KG KouGars have won so often, they probably don't know any other way.

That is obvious this season, because as the games wind down and tournament season comes closer, the fourth-ranked KouGars are 9-0 in conference play and 11-1 overall.

KG defeated the Sunburst Refiners 56-41 in non-conference play on Saturday.

The Hays/Lodgepole Thunderbirds are second in the league with a 7-2 conference record and 8-5 overall mark. The Whitewater Penguins upset the Thunderbirds 79-75 in non-conference play last weekend.

However, the Thunderbirds proved their offensive ability last Friday with a 106-44 pounding of Roy in non-conference action.

While Shawn Shambo and Darwin Doney are the offensive mainstays of the program, 10 different players have hit double figures more than once this season.

The Rocky Boy Stars are third with a 6-3, 7-5 record.

During the past seven games, the Stars have dropped just two contests. One was to KG (49-33 on Jan. 15) and the other was a non-conference game to the first place team in the District 8C, Highwood Mountaineers (68-49 on Jan. 29).

The Blue Sky Eagles (6-4, 8-5) have been playing well this season, and are fourth in the district. Its last two losses have come against KG and Rocky Boy.

Box Elder (4-6, 6-8) has floundered lately, winning just one game in four starts. The win came against the Big Sandy Pioneers, who are 0-9, 1-12 in play.

The Pioneers collected their first win on Jan. 22. They defeated non-conference Dodson, 49-44.

The Turner Tornadoes are at the bottom of the league with a recored of 0-10, 1-11. Turner won its second game of the season, but has struggled since.

A key game to watch this weekend includes KG at Chester in non-conference play. This will be rematch of the State Class C championship game last season.

When the two teams met earlier this year, KG edged the Coyotes, 46-45.
