You might say it contains everything from soup to nuts, but that wouldn't be entirely accurate.
"Actually we haven't received either one." said Harvey Brock, publisher the Havre Daily News, "But it's not over yet and who know what we might get in February."
Brock was referring to The Havre Daily News Millennium Time Capsule -- a project that has so far received donations from more than 40 area agencies and businesses and contains approximately 70 items so far.
Item range from T-shirts and video tapes, to centennial coins and documents. The Havre School System and MSU-Northern also made large contributions to the capsule.
Contributions have also been made by the Mayor's office, Havre Fire Department, Hill County Sheriff's Office, and the Havre-Hill County Library, to name just a few.
The Daily News started collecting material for the capsule in January after Ron VandenBoom, a staff reporter, noticed that no other group or organization in the community was assembling a millennium time capsule.
Brock, who thought the idea had merit, gave VandenBoom the go-ahead to assemble a capsule.
"It seems like a perfect opportunity to combine the end of the last millennium with the beginning of the next," VandenBoom said. "Kind of like burying the past and starting new."
VandenBoom called many of the agencies in Havre he thought should be represented in the capsule and asked them if they would like to contribute to the effort.
