While presenting some reports to the Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees at last night, Superintendent Dr. Kirk Miller and Assistant Superintendent Dennis Parman said the reports would hopefully soon be available on new formats: CD-Rom and the Internet.
The superintendent's office presented nicely printed and bound copies of an education profile of the Havre Public Schools and the Mid-Year Report of the District Education Work Plan. The education profile is 26 pages long and the mid-year report is a 42 page color-coded document.
Miller said that due to printing costs, he only had limited copies of the report at the meeting, although they are available at his office upon request. He said his office plans to offer them both as CD-Roms, which are easier to transport and allow electronic access to the data, and as part of the district's web-page, which will allow access from the viewer's own computer terminal.
Miller said this will allow easier public access to the documents. The district work plan details current district projects, committee members on the project committees and progress on the projects.
The education profile lists information such as program offerings; student environment; student and school achievement; expenditure per student; attendance, and so on.
Parman said this report helps to give a broad cross section of school achievement. He said it is much more in depth and valuable than a simple listing of test scores.
