Cheyenne, Goofer slated for fair

The high energy performance of the musical show band Cheyenne will be the featured entertainment for this year's night show at the Great Northern Fair.

Supporting act for Cheyenne will be Goofer a one man comedy show in the tradition of Grandpa Jones and Junior Samples.

According to Mike Spencer, manager of the Great Northern Fair, Cheyenne was signed earlier this year during the annual fair convention of communities in the northwest.

Spencer said the Great Northern Fair Board was so impressed with the band when they performed at the convention they signed both acts before they left a first for the Fair Board.

Cheyenne is billed as "the most requested show band in the Midwest for fairs, festivals, and rodeos." The reason given for the band's success is "talent, personality and attitude."

The six member band features the talents of Rosie Bielefeldt. Labeled one of the great fiddle players in the country by Bobby Baker Enterprises, she began playing the violin at 5 and continued through high school.

Bielefeldt performed at Carnegie Hall with the University-Wisconsin LaCrosse Symphony Orchestra when 19 and since that time has played with a variety of different bands ranging from country to rock.

"The biggest turn-on for me is when the people are really into your music and what you're doing on stage, and you can see it on their faces. That's what makes it all worthwhile," she said.

Cheyenne has shared the stage with The Judds, Patty Loveless, Sawyer Brown, Clint Black, and The Oak Ridge Boys, to name just a few famous personalities.

Goofer, who has the reputation as never offending anyone with his G-rated performances, is the former star of the famous "Lee Mace Ozark Opry" at Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks. He has played to more than a million spectators and offers Havre audiences a refreshing break from traditional fair entertainment. This is his first year on the fair circuit.

Spencer said the current plan is to have Cheyenne open the Wednesday Night Show performing about 60 minutes of material and then have Goofer perform while the band breaks. Cheyenne will then return to complete the evening's entertainment.
