Do you want to be frightened, titillated, entertained or amused? The sixth annual Montana Storytelling Roundup at Cut Bank Montana may just be what you're looking for.
Dozens of entertainers from throughout the West converge on Cut Bank each Spring for this event. The two-day event will be held April 14-15.
The event will feature 30 musicians, story tellers and artists. It will host a number of events and entertainment that will range from a jam session to poetry, ghost stories, folk music, Indian story telling and much more.
More than 3,500 people will be exposed to the age old art of story telling through the Montana Storytelling Roundup.
"Oral story tellers never tell the same story twice," said Jewell Wolk, conference founder. "We are working to bring in a new industry into the state of Montana. Montana state tourism is working with us and they are pleased this is happening. We recently attended the Montana Cultural Tourism Conference and we were the center of attention at the conference."
The conference brings in talent from Central and Western Montana, Wolk said. This event will be fun for the whole family and a must for anyone into story telling and the Old West, she said.
"This is Montana's only story telling festival," Wolk Said. "We are working very hard to bridge a gap between the Native population and the whites."
The event will include entertainers such as:
Gus Wolfe - Storyteller Wolfe wildlife series slide show;
Bonnie Jo Hunt - Native American opera singer, dancer and author;
Lois Red Elk - Native American author and actress;
Dave Walter - Jerks in Montana history;
Glacier Institute - Storyteller, grizzly bears
The doors will open at 9 a.m. at Cut Bank High School Auditorium and a special art show and kids program will also be featured.
