Northern Christian Fellowship (NCF) provides a place for Christian students to gather and minister to each other.
NCF is a Christian, non-denominational, college and career-age ministry that meets every Monday on the MSU-Northern campus at 7 p.m. for a time of fellowship, worship and Bible study. The meeting is open anyone.
The campus ministry provides a place for Christian students to gather and develop meaningful relationships. It also is a good support system for campus Christians through prayer, encouragement and the word of God. This campus ministry helps the students to be accountable to each other in their Christian lives.
The goal of NCF is to glorify God, lift up the local body of Christ and to reach out to the non-believing students for Christ.
"Our purpose is to provide an authentic community of students who are seeking to know God," NCF leader Justin Bryeans said.
NCF has numerous activities on and off campus, including a recent retreat to Cypress Hills Provincial Park for a three-day weekend of worship, fellowship, shopping and skiing.
The group left on a Friday afternoon from the Havre Assembly of God parking lot for a fun-packed weekend. Several car loads of mostly college students arrived at the United Church Camp in Cypress Hills in the early evening.
After unloading the vehicles, the group set up for a time of praise and worship. Byreans taught on a variety topics, such as how one life could affect the eternal order of things and how to live a more meaningful life as a Christian. He encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunities that God provides for them to reach out to others for Christ.
Saturday morning, some of the NCF students went for a day of skiing and snowboarding at Hidden Valley Ski Area, while the non-skiers went to Medicine Hat for a day of shopping.
The whole retreat focused on worship, individual growth in Christian beliefs and for participants to get to know each other. The skiing and shopping were added benefits.
The group returned tired and sore from a weekend of skiing and shopping, but spiritually refreshed.
"It was a great time to get to know everyone in our group better and to worship the Lord together," said Bethany Boyum.
"It was a fun time; the fellowship was great, and we enjoyed great food," Erin Ramberg said.
