CHINOOK Francis W. (Bill) Boisvert, 82, Chinook, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, of natural causes at a Chinook rest home.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Chinook.
Boisvert was born March 16, 1918 in Havre to Fred and Della (Drake) Boisvert. He attended school in Chinook and Glasgow, graduating from Glasgow High School in 1936. He entered Montana State College in 1938 and majored in electrical engineering.
In 1942, a few months before graduation, Boisvert married Genevieve Young and enlisted in the Army Air Corps. The Army sent him and his bride to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where Boisvert was trained to install airborne radar systems. He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of major after serving in World War Two.
Boisvert was recalled to serve during the Korean Conflict. After the conflict, he and his wife returned to Montana and eventually settled in Chinook. He was in private business there until 1968 when he and his wife moved to Missoula. He taught electromechanical engineering at Missoula Vo-Tech Center until his retirement in 1980.
Boisvert was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Chinook and the Algeria Shrine.
Boisvert was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve, in 1996.
Survivors include his brother, Clayton of Castro Valley, Calif.; two sons, Dick of Ithaca, N.Y., and David of Harlem; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
A memorial fund has been established at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home.
