Jergeson looks strong for Chinook netters

The Chinook Sugarbeeters' tennis team fared well at Saturday's Invitational, held in Havre.

No. 1 singles' player Cassie Jerguson looks to lead the way for the Sugarbeeters this season.

"She's a good player who works hard," head coach Brent Schellin said.

Jergeson defeated Choteau's Alexis Adams 8-5 and Fort Benton's Kristen Bailey 8-3 on Saturday.

Kelsie Whitney, the Sugarbeeters' No. 2 singles' player, defeated Bailey 8-6, Chester's Amanda Kolstad 8-7, and Chester's Lisa Wickum, 8-2.

Whitney's lone loss came against Fort Benton's No. 1 Lacey Schultz.

"She's learning fast," Schellin said of Whitney. "She's a great competitor."

Susan Thackeray, Chinook's No. 4 player, defeated Janae Singer of Fort Benton, 8-3, and defeated Jennifer Doll of Havre JV, 8-1.

On the doubles' side, Kelsey Allenhofen and Elizabeth Stuker combined for one win over Choteau's Becky Hartman and Bre Snyder.

No. 2 doubles players Christy Baker and Julianna Hellman defeated Havre JV's Sam Shrauger and Laura Hedstrom, 8-4. They also defeated Fort Benton's Rosa Potts and Kristen Scott, 8-1.

The Sugarbeeters will be competing at Big Sandy on Friday and Havre on Saturday.
