UWs Day of Caring needs several hands

By HDN Staff

Well, as the old adage goes, if you have more time than money, the United Way could use your help this Friday. The United Way sponsors a workday each year to assist non-profit agencies in need of some manpower. The program offers the opportunity for members of the community to put their talents and muscle too much needed projects. Local businesses and agencies have supported the program in the past by donating materials and labor.

This year Bob Rice and his office have chosen to work on three projects, located at the Salvation Army, Golden Triangle Mental Health and the Girl Scout House. If there is extra help they will do some landscaping at the four HRDC transition homes as well.

Most benevolent activities require that we only open our wallets. This program offers the unique opportunity for folks to receive instant gratification from completing much-needed projects in one day. Everyone wins when businesses let employees escape their day-to-day activities and help out with worthwhile community projects. In addition to completing the much needed work, volunteers take with them the experience of networking with members of the community who help others year around.

We at the Havre Daily News believe that this program deserves all of our support. If you can spare an hour or all day contact the United Way Office so they can plan for the day's projects. Congratulations to the United Way and all involved who have helped out in the past and will this year.
