Oakwoods summer 2000 calendar set

The HELP Summer 2000 activities at Oakwood Village Apartments have been set and begin Monday, June 5.

A Mini-Society Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lincoln-McKinley Elementary School from June 5-9, and again at Sunnyside Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 17-21. The camp is for children eight to 12 years old. They will set up their own society, economy and businesses at the camp, learning entrepreneurial skills. Cost for the camp is $10. Every Monday from June 5 to July 24, children will be taken to Eagles Park from 10 a.m. to noon. The Playmobile will be there for the children's entertainment. This free activity is sponsored by HELP, the Eagles and the Havre Parks and Recreation Department.

Coffee hour will be provided Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon in Room D-9 at Oakwood Village. Parents are invited to talk to other parents while the children are at Eagles Park. Copies of the Havre Daily News and information about community activities and resources will be available, and parents are invited to bring their hand work or recipes to share. The coffee hour will also be held July 31 and August 14 and 21.

The Havre-Hill County Library will host Story Time from 3-4 p.m. in Room D-9 at Oakwood Village Thursdays from June 1 through August 24, and at 10:15 a.m. at the library on Wednesdays from June 7 through August 30.

Summer Reading registration begins June 7. Children will record the hours they read in the program, with prizes for different levels reached at different age groups and a grand prize for the most hours read in each age group.

Other summer activities at the library include the Bug Race on June 22 at 1:30 p.m. and Stargazing with Bob Soper on July 13 at 7 p.m.

Kid's Time will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from from 2:30 -3:30 p.m. from July 17 through August 1 at Room D-9, Oakwood Village. Montana State University-Northern students will help children learn to manage and deal with stress, sibling rivalry, anger, relaxation, conflict-resolution and death/loss issues. Divorce Group will be held Mondays July 17-31 from 4-5 p.m. at Room D-9, Oakwood Village. There will be a group for adults, teens and children. Topics covered will reflect the interests and concerns of the group. Call Darlene Sellers at 265-3524.

The Death/Loss Group, a support group for families going through the grieving process, will be held Tuesdays between 4-5 p.m. from July 18 through August 1 at Room D-9, Oakwood Village. There will be a group for adults, teens and children. Call Darlene Sellers at 265-3524.

A Managing Your Emotions group will meet between 4-5 p.m. on Wednesdays on July 19 and 26. There will be a group for adults, teens and children. Topics covered will reflect the concerns and interests of the group. Call Darlene Sellers at 265-3524.

HELP Camp will be held July 24-26 for children in sixth- through eight-grade. They will have the opportunity to learn and practice some important life skills, and to have fun and make new friends. The camp will be held at Montana State University-Northern, with the students housed in the residence halls. Cost for the camp is $35. Call HELP at 265-6206.

Talent Search will hold three summer Academic Camps this summer for students entering sixth- through ninth-grade. Activities will center on life skills, arts, crafts and study skills. Call Kay Azure at 265-1414 for information and an application.
