Northstars ready for Havre Baseball Jamboree

The defending State A champion Havre Northstars are gearing up for game one of the weekend baseball jamboree. The Northstars will be trading shots with visiting Williston (N.D.) Friday at 5:45 p.m.

The Northstars have a 6-1 record in conference and an 18-7 overall record coming into the jamboree.

Offensively, the Northstars are led by David Heberly who is batting a solid .405 average, with 14 RBIs. Batting a strong .389 with 26 RBIs is Ricky Brown.

Brown also has five home runs to lead the team. Eleven of the 14 Northstars are batting a plus-.300 average.

On the defensive side of things, the Northstars' pitching staff is led by undefeated Danny Wirtzberger. Wirtzberger is 2-0 with a 5.00 earned run average.

The next flamethrower on the staff is Brown. Brown has 4-1 record and has an ERA under 5.00. Others on the staff are Dan Danielson, 4-1, with a 7.28 ERA, David Knight, 2-1, with a 9.07 ERA, Kyle Sheppard, 3-1, with a 5.31 ERA, and Jared Boyce, 1-3, with a 5.19 ERA.

In the field, the Northstars are solid behind Doug Ireland, Dan Danielson, and Danny Wirtzberger, who have combined for only one error among the three of them. Mike Kellam and David Heberly have both committed only two errors each.

Their first game will be Friday at 5:45 p.m. against Williston at Legion Field. Other Northstar game times will be Saturday 6 p.m. vs. Glendive, and Sunday 3 p.m. vs. Glasgow.
