MABEL BOGUT
Mabel Engene Bogut, retired Havre educator, died Monday, July 24, 2000 in Long Beach, Calif. of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jack Rampelberg officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery.
She was born in Kindred, N.D. She married Edward L. Bogut on Sept. 25, 1942.
She graduated from Moorhead State College and Northern Montana.
Bogut taught in Havre and Leonard, N.D. for more than 30 years. In 1999, she was awarded the Catherine Nutterville Achievement in Education Award by the state chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.
Bogut was an NMC Foundation board member for six years and served another three years as an ex officio board member. She served as chapter president for Delta Kappa Gamma and held state offices. She was a member for 58 years.
She also taught at Girl Scout Camps and judged art exhibits at Hill County Fair. She was a member of AAUW and Friends of the Havre Library. She was a 26-year member of the Bear Paw Retired Teachers Association, as well as the MEA and NEA.
Bogut was a painter and mixed media artist. She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time in Glacier National Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward, who died in 1986.
Survivors include her daughter, Michele "Chelli" Hansen of Long Beach, Calif.; four sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.
