DONALD NORMANDY

Donald Leroy Normandy, 81, Havre, died Thursday, July 27, 2000 at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

A rosary was held Sunday. Funeral is 2 p.m. today at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Father Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Normandy was born in the Bear Paw Mountains to Pete and Louise (Sheehan) Normandy on May 20, 1919. He married Alice Akino on July 5, 1945. He worked on ranches in the Bear Paw from the early age of 12 until 1960, when he started working for the City of Havre. He retired in 1985.

Normandy enjoyed shoeing horses, herding cattle, being an old cowboy, telling stories and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed cooking for a lot of his friends at "Don's Dump Diner" on West Second Street and Tilleman's Chevrolet.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice, who died Oct. 18, 1993; two sons and one daughter.

Survivors include his sons, Donald Normandy Jr., Lawrence Normandy, Eldon Normandy and Jason Normandy, all of Havre; daughters, Audrey St. Germain of great Falls, Debbie St. Pierre of Rocky Boy and Paulette Kegley of Fareman, Ark.; numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
