DAVID SCHAUB

David W. Schaub, 67, formerly of Havre, died Sept. 5, 2000, after a long fight with cancer in Keizer, Ore.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul' s Lutheran Church. Cremation has taken place and his ashes are being brought to Havre.

Schaub was born on Dec. 4, 1932 in Bell Fouche, S.D. to Henry and Anna Schaub. He attended Fairview High School and, in recent years, attended class reunions.

He married Marge Brese and they divorced in 1970.

In 1971, he married Elaine Stoner and they moved to Keizer, Ore.

During the time he lived in Havre, Schaub worked for the Texaco Corp. delivering gas. He also worked in a tire retread shop.

In 1970, he was recognized for outstanding work with the Optimist Boxing Club.

He was disabled in 1978 after surgery to remove cancer.

Schaub enjoyed all types of fishing and gardening. During his last years, he enjoyed traveling to visit his children, relatives and friends.

Schaub was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Laverne; son, Mark; and grandson, Reno.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine of Keizer; sons, Newell Schaub, Benj Stoner and Tom Stoner, all of Billings, David Schaub of Fort Benton, Greg Stoner of Grand Rapids, Minn.; daughters, Charlene Martin and Colleen Thrash of Fort Benton, Mary Ellen Judd of Lincoln, Neb., Charlotta McGarvey of Evanston, Wyo., and Valerie Martinez; brother, Dan Schaub of Conrad; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
