Oct. 2-7 is homecoming week at Havre High School, and the week is filled with activities for students at the school, ending with the homecoming dance Saturday night.
The events begin with decorating the halls and display cases from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. today, followed by a barbecue at the high school. Each class is assigned an area to decorate, with judging Tuesday before school starts. The winning class will be treated to a pizza party.
There will be softball games between the classes Tuesday night starting at 6 p.m. at the Sixth Avenue Softball Complex. Teams must have a minimum of twenty players from the same class.
Coronation of the homecoming king and queen, selected from the senior royalty, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4 in the high school auditorium. Members of the senior royalty this year are Nikki Baltrusch and Brent Finneman, Lyndsay Brandt and Ryan Fink, Stacey Siebrasse and Matt Kemp and Samantha Velk and Chad Maney. Other members of the royal court are Laura Hedstrom and Kevin Harada for the juniors, Katie Siebrasse and Levi Briese for the sophomores and Hailey Schnittgen and Chris Peterson for the freshmen.
Decoration of the gymnasium in preparation for the Thursday night girls' basketball game against Fort Benton will be from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Door prizes will be drawn for during the day Thursday, and the basketball game begins at 7:30 p.m.
Students will gather for a pep assembly from 2:55 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, followed by car bashing at 3:30. Students will pay a small fee to the Pep Club for the opportunity to smash a decorated car donated to the club. This is followed by the football game against Belgrade at 7:30 p.m. at the Blue Pony Stadium.
Saturday, Oct. 7 begins with the Havre Cross Country Invitational starting at the Montana State University-Northern campus at 10 a.m. The Blue Ponies girls' basketball team competes against Glasgow at 7:30 p.m., and the homecoming dance is scheduled from 9:30 p.m. to midnight in the high school cafeteria.
