Customers can now shop for Yamaha as well as Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth and Jeep products at the North Star dealership, at 1720 U.S. Highway 2 East in Havre.
North Star has added Yamaha on-off competition bikes, ATVs and generators, as well as a full line of parts, accessories and "a fully dedicated service department," said Gary Reighard, who owns the North Star dealership with his father, Jim Reighard, and Rocky Preeshl.
The first of the Yamaha products started arriving at the dealership about two weeks ago.
There is a display room of the products, about 1,000 square feet, and the dealership has added a 25 by 80 foot section to the service area to incorporate the Yamaha dealership.
Gary Reighard and Preeshl said they are in negotiations to add a secondary location at the Holiday Village Shopping Center, due to open Nov. 1.
Preeshl and Reighard said they wanted to expand their business, and felt that the Yamaha dealership would complement their lines nicely.
"We've always enjoyed motorcycles our entire life, both Gary and I," Preeshl said.
Reighard said the new line should work well in the dealership. He said they could sell the products as a package, sell an ATV or dirt bike or street bike with a pickup, "something like that."
They chose Yamaha because of the diversification and quality of the product, Reighard said.
