The Havre Public School District Board of Trustees received the School Board of the Year from the Montana Association of School Superintendents at the Montana Conference of Educational Leadership in Billings last week.
The association presents the award to recognize and focus attention on dedicated, ethical service from the boards to the students in their districts. The Havre board received the award on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
Havre board members and administrators attended the conference, Which ran from Oct. 18-20.
The trustees at the conference were recognized at a luncheon and presented with a plaque recognizing their service to the students of Havre.
The board consists of Chair Jim Heberly, Vice Chair Aileen Couch, Judy Bricker, Dave Milam, Teresa Miller, Brian Morse, Kathie Newell and Denise Thompson.
Members of the Havre Public Schools submitted a nomination packet for the board outlining accomplishments in eight areas. The areas were board policy; facilities and grounds, with infrastructure learning and teaching environments; programs, including educational and innovative programs; school board training, state and national; board and administrative collaboration; personnel professional development; community involvement, and other.
