Reach for Tomorrow recruiting mentors

By Crystal Thompson

Avis Chenoweth, volunteer for Reach For Tomorrow, a mentoring program for girls, provided under the Hill County Mentoring Program, said that the group is looking for members.

Reach For Tomorrow is a mentoring program for girls in grades 6-8. Local adults volunteer their time to become a mentor to the girls.

Mentoring involves spending time with the girls and participating in activities that can include anything from sharing a pizza to helping with homework.

On Saturday, the Reach for Tomorrow group will be carving pumpkins at the girl scout house at 4:00.

All girls in 6-8th grades are invited to attend to learn more about the mentoring program. Registration for girls who would like a mentor will take place at this time. Chenoweth encourages everyone to come and check it out.

"This is a chance for them to get all the information," she said.

On Tuesday, the group will be trick-or-treating with the Lion's Club; and on Wednesday they will be collecting used eye glasses and non-perishable food items from the community.

The group is also looking for adults who would like to help with the program, "We're always looking for mentors," Chenoweth said.
