Kids help Feed My Sheep

By Crystal Thompson

The Calvary Baptist Church youth group has been collecting cans of soup for the Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen this holiday season.

Diana Greytak, leader of the AWANA youth group, said that the kids have tried hard to meet their goal of 150 soup cans. On Wednesday, Dec. 13, Nancy Evans from the Soup Kitchen in Havre came to the church to pick up the cans that the group had collected. Nearly thirty youths make up the group who helped collect cans for the worthy cause.

At 7:30 p.m. Evans arrived to pick up the generous donation from the group, she then gave a brief talk to the group about the Soup Kitchen and it's goals.

Evans will be retiring as director of the Soup Kitchen after this year.

Greytak said that it's kind of a coincidence that the group decided to do a collection for the Soup Kitchen this year, as it's Evans' final year there. Nearly a decade ago when Greytak was leader of the "cubbies," the young children's chapter of the youth group, the kids were given a tour of the Soup Kitchen. Evans just happened to be the one who had given them the tour. "It's just kind of neat that we'd pick her last year there to do this," Greytak said.
