ARTHUR RUFF

Arthur Frederick Ruff, 75, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at a Great Falls hospital of natural causes.

Memorial services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Chimes in Great Falls. Cremation will take place.

Ruff was born March 23, 1925, to Frederick and Maria Ruff in Terry. He attended school in Terry, then attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings.

He entered the U.S. Navy in 1945, and served on the U.S. Massachusetts.

Ruff married Dorothy E. Raines in Billings on Dec. 19, 1948.

After college, Ruff worked for the Mulvaney Motor Co. and Burg Geophisics, both of Billings. He then moved to Miles City and was employed with the Milwaukee Railroad and Midland Lumber Co.

Ruff moved to Havre in 1971 and worked as a custodian at Havre High School. He retired and moved to Great Falls in 1990.

Ruff was the past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Association. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, horse shoes, camping and collecting pens and pencils.

Ruff was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ruff of Great Falls, daughters Susie Williams of Havre, Carrie Cline of Big Sandy, Linda Ronning of Miles City, Diana Ruff of Great Falls, Debbie Dean of LaFeyette, Colo., Sheila Muir of Brighton, Colo.; sons, Arthur F. Ruff II and Richard Ruff, both of Great Falls; grandchildren Pete Ronning, John Ronning, Brandy Dean, Jon Dean, Shana Williams, Wayne Williams, Trent Cline, David Muir, Ben Muir, and one great-grandchild, Brittany Ronning.
