MAE WHALEY
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. Mae Eleanor Whaley, 78, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000 in Eugene, Ore. of natural causes.
Private visitation is at Buell Chapel in Springfield with cremation at Buell Chapel Crematorium. The funeral service was this afternoon in Springfield.
Whaley was born July 25, 1922 in Minot, N.D. to James and Marie (Jorgerson) Price.
She married Lawrence "Larry" Leroy Whaley Dec. 2, 1942 in Portland, Ore.
Whaley was a waitress and owned several cafes during her life. She also was a line cook for a construction company once.
She enjoyed sewing, traveling, bingo, cooking, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Whaley, who died Aug. 1, 1994; son, Gary Larson; five brothers; two sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Glenn Whaley of Portland, Ore. and Honolulu, Hawaii, and Rick Rotola of Portland, Ore.; daughters, Mary Scott of Springfield, Ore. and Agnes Engebritson of Kalispell; twin sister, Myrtle Davidson of Oakridge, Ore.; sister, Fern Kovia of Moses Lake, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
American Burial and Cremation Alternatives of Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
