HARLEM Mollie Tangen, 83, Harlem, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001 at a Billings health center of natural causes.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook.

Tangen was born Nov. 22, 1917 in Bayard, Neb. to John and Amelia Kinzel. She spent her youth helping her widowed father raise her brothers and sisters. She also worked in the beet fields, operated the family Caterpillar, skipped school, drove the family car and helped her father brew and drink beer.

She married Otis Tangen April 28, 1944 and they lived in Harlem.

Tangen could upholster furniture, cut hair, make German wurst, fix the lawn mower and play the accordion. She also was active in the community and until a few months ago peddled Fuller Brush products in the Harlem area.

The holiday season was her favorite time of the year and she particularly enjoyed having her family brothers, sisters, son, husband, nephews, nieces and grandchildren gather in Harlem home for Christmas dinner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her son, Gary Tangen of Billings; grandchildren, Laurel and Steve Linde and Randy Tangen, and two great grandchildren, all of Billings.
