MILDRED ELIZABETH SHEA
Mildred Elizabeth Shea, 82, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001 of natural causes at a Havre care center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Episcopal Church of The Redeemer in Pendleton, Ore. with entombment at the Olney Mausoleum. A fellowship follows at The Oregon Trail Room of the Red Lion Hotel in Pendleton.
Shea was born in Pendleton, Ore. to Gunder and Karen Terjeson on July 9, 1918. She spent a lot of time on the family farm in Helix. She attended schools at the Pendleton Field School, Helix Country School and graduated from Pendleton High School. She attended Oregon State for two years. She worked for Carl Engdahl in Salem, Ore. for the state legislature as his secretary.
Shea married Patrick E. Shea on May 18, 1940 in Pendleton. While her husband served in WWII, she lived in Pendleton with her parents. After the war the couple moved to Seattle, and returned to Pendleton when her father died. They owned and operated Shea's Locker in Pendleton where she was the bookkeeper. They moved to Havre in June of 2000.
Shea loved to cook, garden, bowl, golf and play bridge. She loved flowers and grew beautiful roses. She was a member of the Women's Golf Association, served on the Pendleton Country Club Board, was a member of the Episcopal Church, and served as a Campfire leader.
Shea was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ralph, Verne, and Ronald Terjeson; half brothers, Tom and Jens Terjeson; and sister, Mary Brown.
Survivors include her husband of Havre; daughters, Karen Hoffman of Havre, and Susan Self of Salem, Ore.; brother, Richard Terjeson of Pendleton, Ore.; sister, Kathryn Terjeson of Beaverton, Ore.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
