Five confessed felons appeared for sentencing in 12th Judicial District Court in Havre in early January.
Donald Ryan Nickou, 21, Havre, was given a 3-year deferred imposition of sentence and fined $500 on Jan. 3. He also was ordered to forfeit $1,000 to the Tri-Agency Drug Task Force and abide by the conditions set down in his presentence investigation. Nickou had pleaded guilty Nov. 13 to criminal possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to sell for an incident in the 500 block of Montana Avenue on May 15, 2000.
Shane K. Loftus, 34, Havre, was given a 2-year deferred imposition of sentence and ordered to abide by conditions set down in his presentence investigation. There was no fine. Loftus pleaded guilty Nov. 7 to criminal possession of dangerous drugs for being caught with methamphetamines in North Havre and at the Hill County Detention Center on Feb. 17, 2000.
Iliff David McKay, 22, Havre, was given a 3-year deferred imposition of sentence Jan. 3 with orders to comply by conditions of release identified in his presentence investigation. Money taken during McKay's arrest was forfeited to pay his fines and fees. Any remaining money will be returned to him. McKay pleaded guilty Nov. 20 to criminal possession of dangerous drugs for an incident in the 500 block of Montana Ave. on May 15, 2000.
Frank James Stiffarm, 24, Box Elder, was sentenced Jan. 5 to 13 months with the Department of Corrections with recommendation for placement in a pre-release program. The judge stipulated that Stiffarm would be ineligible for parole for six months and added 11 months of probation to the end of his 13-month sentence. Stiffarm was fined $1,000 plus fees and surcharges and told that he may not drive for the duration of his sentence. Stiffarm pleaded guilty Nov. 20 to driving under the influence of alcohol fourth offense and driving while his license to drive was revoked. He was arrested in Havre for the offenses on March 24, 2000 by a Havre police officer.
Thomas M. Koop III, 26, Box Elder, was given a 3-year deferred imposition of sentence on count one and six months in jail on count two. The sentences were to be served concurrently and Koop must abide by conditions set down in his presentence investigation. Koop pleaded guilty Nov. 20 to felony assault with a weapon and misdemeanor obstructing justice. He had been arrested for an incident involving a baseball bat June 16, 2000 in the 400 block of Ninth Street.
